Independence Lions is a service organization dedicated
to helping Independence: the community and its people.
Besides work projects, such as painting the Edwards
House, the Lions Club conducts fund raisers. These include the semiannual
White Elephant sale, Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast and the Community
Calendar.
All profits from these fund raisers are used for
charitable, community activities. None are used for the operation of the
Club.
For our youth, Independence Lions Club sponsors Boy
Scout Troop 84, provides student scholarships, funds for the summer youth
employment program, and startup funds each year for Little League. It
provides the stockings for Santa Claus to pass out at the Owens Valley
school Christmas program.
In addition to youth projects, Lions provides the
Christmas decorations for Hwy. 395 and funds for holiday food baskets for
needy families.
Without Lions there would be a great void in our
community. We need YOU, your time and effort to keep Lions alive for our
community.
Independence Lions meet at noon on the Second and
Fourth Tuesday of each month. Meetings are at the Lions Club House at 131
South Edwards Street.
Visitors are welcome.
The Lions Club House is also available for other
organizations to use.
