Friends of the Eastern California Museum

bulletThe Friends of the Eastern California Museum (FECM) is a non-profit organization which provides financial and volunteer support to the Eastern California Museum.  FECM supports the Museum's mission to preserve and interpret the natural and cultural history of Inyo County.  Contributions to FECM are used to improve the Museum facilities and exhibits, to assist the museum in achieving long-term financial stability, and to sponsor education programs that encourage public awareness of Inyo County's rich and diverse heritage.

Independence Civic Club

bulletMeets on the first Monday of the month at 6:45 p.m.  at the American Legion Hall located on Highway 395 {Edwards Street}.  The meeting starts with a pot-luck dinner followed by a business portion.  After the business meeting is completed the evening's program is presented.

Mt. Whitney Post 265, American Legion

bulletMt. Whitney Post 265 is on of many Posts within the American Legion which was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, mutual-help, war-time veterans organization.  A community-service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million members -- men and women -- in nearly 15,000 American Legion Posts worldwide.
bulletIn Independence the Post is active in promoting Americanism by displaying the American Flag on the main street through Independence on the major holidays.
